Kerala Tantra & the Parashurama Kalpa Sutra

The Ancient Blue Print denotes the rituals and poojas present in the Sri Parashurama Kalpa Tantra Sutra. The Kalpa Tantra is a pooja agama blessed by Lord Sri Parashurama, the sixth avatar of Lord Vishnu and one of the main disciples of Lord Sri Dattatreya. Among the Agamas, Tantras are the practices that use Yantras and Mantras to attain a specific power; the Kalpa Tantra is the base and contains the rituals of all Devatas that grant those powers.

Kalpa Tantra is the motherhood of all Tantra techniques and was owned only by the Kerala Guru tradition. From Kerala Tantra all other Tantra techniques were derived. If a person from Kashmir came to Kerala, learned Kerala Tantra and returned home, the Kashmir Tantra was derived by him. In the same way Nepal Tantra, Buddhist Tantra, Chinese Tantra and the Kashmir Tantra scripts developed. When we explore the origin of all these techniques, Kerala Tantra is proven to be their base.

Why Kerala

Kerala is the land created by Lord Parashurama. He established 108 Durga temples, 108 Shiva temples and many other temples, and personally administered them. The rituals performed in these temples are the base of the Ancient Blue Print. Parashurama is a Chiranjeevi — immortal.

After destroying the Kartaviryarjuna king, Lord Parashurama approached an assembly of learned scholars to find a path of penitence. On their guidance he meditated at Gokarnam, was blessed by Varuna (God of the oceans) and Bhumi Devi (God of the Land), then travelled to Kanyakumari and threw his axe northward across the ocean. The place where the axe landed was named Kerala.

He constructed 108 Bhagavathy and 108 Shiva temples on that land and taught the Tantra Sastra techniques exclusively to his core ten disciples for administering the rituals. Those disciples and their lineage are the only ones with the knowledge and the authority to own the Parashurama Kalpa Tantra.

Smriti — that which is remembered

These secret Tantra procedures were never recorded in any texts, not even on palm leaves. The only method by which a Guru could transmit them was Smriti — that which is remembered. Kerala Tantra Gurus therefore uphold complete confidentiality in both their pooja practices and their way of life.

Our Guru lineage retains this secrecy policy. Poojas are conducted by a crew of 21 tantrics — Lord Guruji, nine Prathan Sishyas (Main Disciples) and eleven tantric practitioners. This tantric group observes a traditional pooja lifestyle: cooking their own meals, eating a single raw-rice meal per day, sleeping on a freshly prepared coconut-leaf mat, and so on.

This teaching is preserved and transmitted through the Sri Dattatreya – Sri Parashurama Guru Lineage by His Holiness Sri Guruji Durga Prasad Garu.
