According to Hindu Astrology the Navagrahas are the nine heavenly bodies and deities that influence human life on Earth — Aditya, Soma, Mangala, Budha, Guru, Shukra, Shani, Rahu and Ketu. Their placement causes every rise and fall in a human life. Certain conjunctions block the ability to handle enemies and prevent victory; these disadvantages must be sorted out from the horoscope.
The Navagraha Pooja is performed as follows. The client's birth chart is drawn as a Mandala. According to the placement of the planets in the birth chart, they are positioned in the Mandala using Kumbha Prathishta.
Each planet's power is invoked with its powerful Moola Mantra along with Tantric rituals inside a holy Kalasha — water collected from the holy rivers Ganga, Yamuna, Sowbarnika, Cauvery, Brahmaputra and so on. Prana Prathishta for one Graha takes three days; the powerful ritual is then carried out for seven days (168 hours) continuously for that Graha. Simultaneous poojas run for all nine Grahas across seven days.
Planets unfavourable to the client are blocked and planets favourable to the client are boosted — suppressing the weaknesses and activating the strengths of his horoscope. This is the essence of the Navagraha Tantra ritual.
