Sri Chakra is a holy Yantra composed of nine interlocking triangles that represent the united form of Shiva and Sakthi — the central point is the Bindu. Because of its nine triangles, Sri Chakra is also called Nava-Yoni Chakra. In the Holy Gita, Lord Krishna says that among Yantras He is present in the form of Sri Yantra.
The main goddess who resides in the Sri Yantra is Devi Tripura Sundari — the supreme being, the most beautiful in the three Lokas. She is the Creator, Preserver and Destroyer of the universe. Sri Yantra also contains thirty-three crore Devatas, Yakshinis, Yoginis and all Devaganas. If one worships her with Tantra techniques, every needed attainment is granted.
The Tantra form of worshipping the united form of Shiva-Shakthi at the centre along with all the Devatas is called Sri Chakra Navavarna Pooja — the most auspicious pooja of all. In Sastra, the one who gives a deity's mantra to humankind is called the Rishi of the mantra. Every other Rishi worshipped Sadashiva to gain his grace, but the mantra used in Sri Chakra Pooja was given by Lord Sadashiva himself — He is the Rishi. By performing this pooja we please both Devi and Sadashiva.
The ritual is performed by drawing a Kalam of 9×9 ft — the Sri Chakra Roopa Kalam alone may take up to 20 hours to draw — invoking Devi Lalitha Tripura Sundari in a lamp and worshipping her continuously for nine days (216 hours) with nine types of flowers and powerful Tantric mudras. It bestows fame, prosperity, fortune, health, eradication of enemies and the power to rule the government in an unimaginably short amount of time.
