Surya is the ruler of the planets and lord of the Leo constellation. He provides monarchy, power and administrative ability to those who worship him. The Raja Surya Tantra ritual symbolises the rites conducted to reach the king's throne in the present day.
The intense Raja Surya Tantra Yagna is conducted to appease Surya Deva using 1,00,008 red lotus flowers, immersed in a precise ratio of raw honey and pure ghee, for nine days — 216 continuous hours.
